Capturing strategy in Claude.ai
This is the primary way to capture strategy. You run a Facilitator conversation inside Claude.ai via an MCP connector, and the Facilitator's structured questions become primitives in your strategy repo.
Prerequisites
- A signed-in AlienMonster account. If you don't have one, request an invite at alienmonster.ai/waitlist.
- A Claude.ai account with access to Customize → Connectors. This is available on Claude Pro, Team, and Enterprise plans.
Connect AlienMonster to Claude.ai
- In Claude.ai, open the sidebar and click Customize.
- In the Customize panel, select Connectors.
- Click Add custom connector.
- Paste
https://alienmonster.ai/mcpinto the URL field and click Add. - Sign in with AlienMonster when Claude.ai prompts.
After the connector is added, Claude.ai shows AlienMonster as an available connector in every chat.
Optional: Advanced settings
Client ID and Secret are optional. You can leave Advanced settings untouched unless you have a specific reason to use them.
If you do need them (for custom OAuth flows or testing), you can find your Client ID and Secret in Settings → MCP → Claude.ai inside AlienMonster.
Start a strategy session
Open a new chat in Claude.ai. Tell Claude what you want to do:
I want to think through the go-to-market for my SaaS. Can you run a strategy session?
Claude calls AlienMonster's MCP tools to start a session — you'll see tool calls like start_brainstorm_session or get_conversation_guide in the chat. The Facilitator then asks structured questions. Answer honestly; the Facilitator captures your answers as primitives.
What gets captured
Every conversation produces primitives. A Strategy Interview might produce 20–40 across most dimensions. A Brainstorm produces 10–25. A Quick Update produces just 1–3. See Session types for which kind of session creates what.
View what got captured
Your primitives appear in the repo browser at /projects/[projectId]/repo. Each primitive has an ID like DEC-DEC-001. See Primitives for the full model.
